Community Grants 2018

If you were an established community organisation or not-for-profit, what would you do with $4,000? As runner up of the 2018 AMI Community Grants, Maketu CoastGuard knew exactly what they would do!

AMI and Neighbourly joined forces to give away $30,000 to local organisations and community projects who needed a little helping hand – and this year the Maketu Coastguard received a $4,000 grant which they are putting towards a new life saver boat and safety gear!!

The Maketu Coastguard also known as "The Charity Saving Lives At Sea" has the mission to be the 'go to' people for marine safety, education and search and rescue services. Their fleet currently consists of 5 rescue vessels and all the volunteers who provide boaties with assistance at sea.

The programme supports projects that reduce crime and/or make their communities stronger, safer and more connected places to live.

Applications for the next round of AMI Community Grants opens soon – so if your community organisation or not-for-profit could do with a little help to get your local project up and running, make sure you apply!
