New Zealand Red Cross, proudly supported by AMI
New Zealand Red Cross and AMI, right here making our world a safer place.
For some, winter can mean cuddling up on the couch with a hot cuppa when it’s cold. Unfortunately, this is a luxury not possible for many Kiwis - far too many people are getting cold this season, and the relentless weather conditions are not helping.
Earlier this month, Red Cross Taranaki and AMI New Plymouth joined forces to make things a little easier – by delivering winter care packages to over 200 households in the Taranaki region. Those who received the winter care packages were those identified by community services as being in need of support.
Packages included many household necessities: door stops, window seals, clothing, smoke alarms, blankets and much more. 16 volunteers from the community worked together to make this idea a reality.
"Thanks to AMI we've been able to include way more items than before and purchase them new as well, which has been awesome" - Jess Burrows, Red Cross Taranaki Service Centre Co-ordinator
