Your AMI caravan and trailer policy covers your caravan or trailer, including its spare parts and accessories, for accidental loss or damage anywhere in New Zealand.
An AMI caravan and trailer insurance policy provides affordable, nationwide cover for:
- caravans and pop tops
- car trailers, farm trailers and motor cycle trailers
- horse floats
An AMI caravan and trailer policy won't cover commercial use or boat trailers, mobile homes or campervans.
Cover for your caravan
Your AMI caravan and trailer policy provides Market Value cover for your caravan, including its fixtures and fittings (eg. the stove, spare wheel and awning).
This includes cover if your caravan is:
- stolen, or
- burgled, or
- damaged while being towed, or
- vandalised, or
- storm damaged
anywhere in New Zealand.
Cover for your trailer
Your AMI caravan and trailer policy provides Market Value cover for your trailer. This includes cover if your trailer is:
- stolen, or
- damaged while being towed, or
- vandalised, or
- storm damaged
anywhere in New Zealand.
Salvage costs
If your caravan or trailer is damaged and can't be towed, we'll pay to move it to the nearest repairer. If your caravan or trailer is stolen and then found, we'll pay to return it to you.
Cover if you damage other people's property
We'll cover you for up to $20 million if you are legally liable to pay for any accidental loss of or damage to someone else's property through use of your caravan or trailer. This also includes:
- cover if you use someone else's caravan or trailer
- cover if other people use your caravan or trailer.
Caravan living expenses
If you're on holiday and your caravan is damaged and unfit to live in, we'll pay up to $300 for any reasonable additional living expenses incurred. There is no extra premium for this cover.

For an extra premium you can extend your cover to include the contents of your caravan.

Get temporary cover for up to 7 days!
If your caravan or trailer is insured with AMI and you buy a new caravan or trailer to replace it, we'll provide automatic cover for your replacement caravan or trailer for up to 7 days.
Save on your caravan or trailer premium!
Generous No Claim Bonus
Quite simply, the fewer claims you make, the lower your premium. If you are claim free for one year we will recognise this by reducing your cost of insurance by up to 40%.
Over 55?
If you're over 55 you may be able to benefit from further premium discounts. Just ask.

15 days to decide
We want to be sure that you're 100% happy with your insurance cover. We'll cheerfully refund your premium in full if you are not completely satisfied within 15 days of taking out your AMI policy (as long as you haven't made a claim).
